The challenges of hosting The Olympic Games in Paris, with the mayor of Paris Centre

Here's a chat with Ariel Weil, the mayor of Paris Centre (arrondissements 1-4). He talks about the challenges of hosting the Olympics, especially security hassles that have come with the openening Ceremony on the Seine River. The Opening Ceremony, perhaps the most ambitious part of the whole games, has turned Ariel's districts into what he compares to a warzone. Meanwhile, Ariel and some of his...

Fabulous episode. I blend Earful Tower tips with flaneusing. Today I got lost in the Eglise Madeleine and adjacent Belle Epoque toilettes, for example. Something I learned in Scott's interview was that the city was designed to be an aesthetic pleasure. It delivers!

According to what this woman says about thel lánguáge, I tell you. I never go to a country if I do not speak their lánguáge or that they speak English well. People from muy country are they same as American, they do not care for learning . I think that IS not respectful. And tell her you just pronounce "Los Ángeles" , letter G like H in English, and you should not pronounce French names they American way. Thanks. I am from Argentina.

Very interesting. I will probably get the book. I knew from checking the Internet that there were a lot of museums in Paris. As a tourist your time is always limited, but the book would let you prioritise a small list of smaller museums to visit to suit your personal interest. I am interested in art. Monet is my hero. I know there is a small Monet museum that I want to visit on my next trip to Paris.

Hey Oliver apologies for my user name ( it's sort of homage to Jean Reno, Ruby & Quentin movie, I should change it). Was so hoping you'd stop and chat with a local and you entered the restaurant, how fascinating and engaging, what a highlight! Btw you signed your book for my nephew as a gift, encouraging him to be a journo, well he made it, tv reporter for a few years and now a media advisor to some very senior public figures. Enjoy showcasing Paris during this exciting time! Thank you for the tour and your words, we won't see things like that again in our lifetime.

Hello there😄 When I think back to these decades and Paris/France I think music 🎶Edith Piaf - Juliet Greco - Serge Gainsbourg - Jane Birkin - The Stranglers 🎵From age 7 when I started formal French lessons at school in Manchester UK and became immersed in all things French as we had Madame, a French-born teacher, and art/other teachers and listening to RTL Radio Luxembourg, Radio Caroline and the start of BBC Radio 1 - Emperor Rosco, Allan Freeman, Simon Dee - and the essential John Peel in the 80s. Thank you for sparking some great memories♥
